What is T-Box?

T-Box is a solution which promotes and potentiates the creative, responsible, and safe use of technology within education.

T-Box comprises three key elements:

A.

An educational technology curriculum for every school grade. This includes all the materials necessary to implement the solution effectively: teacher guides, student workbooks, and electronic resources.

B.

An Internet platform with multiple services for students, teachers, and parents. This platform is called "T-Box Planet" and is based on web 2.0 technologies, which facilitate communication, collaboration, and exchange between every member of the educational community.

C.

Training and assistance for IT instructors and teachers. T-Box works closely with schools to train teachers, provide expert advice, and monitor project progress.

    

What standards does T-Box base itself on?

T-Box bases its academic proposal on international educational technology standards; this actually makes it much easier for students to obtain international certifications when they desire.

T-Box is based on the following international educational technology standards:

1. NETS from ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). View standards

What methodology does T-Box use?


T-Box uses a project-based learning methodology which assigns tasks that help students complete their project.


What educational resources does T-Box provide?

  • Teacher's guide: It contains useful material that allows teachers to plan and prepare T-Box activities.

  • Workbook: It is a collection of practical exercises which aid and assist students as they complete their educational projects.

  • Electronic resources: These include the work files necessary to complete the activities, a mini-encyclopedia with information relevant to the project, and interactive tutorials that illustrate how to carry out key processes learned in class.

What software T-Box does require?

The T-Box technology curriculum combines the use of proprietary software like Microsoft Office or Max Toolbox, with free open-source software such as Scratch or Inkscape. The programs used depend on the grade level and the software licenses the school has acquired.

What does T-Box Planet allow teachers and students to do?

  1. Teachers can assign homework using T-Box Planet. Students immediately receive these assignments and have the chance to turn in their homework electronically as well.
  2. Teachers and students can post documents, presentations, images, audio, and video through T-Box Planet.
  3. Teachers and students can exchange ideas through educational blogs.
  4. You can share websites with educational content using the "My Bookmarks" service. When anyone in the T-Box community adds websites, these are feed the global WebDirectory which contains a treasure cove of relevant educational content.
  5. Teachers can create wikis and have students add content to it either by working individually or in teams.

These activities, and many more, can be carried out by using T-Box Planet. It is proven that young learners are more motivated when technology becomes a part of their activities.
